No major surprise here, Tarrus Riley is a major force on Jamaica music scene and the rest of the world, touring and consistently releasing fabulous singles. Roots Reggae Singer Tarrus Riley walked away the biggest winner at the Reggae Academy Award (RAA), held at the national Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston on February 24, 2008.

Riley won six categories, among them, Most Popular Song, Best Reggae Song, Breakthrough Reggae Artiste, Best Solo Male Vocal Performer and two for his video. It is an upset, folks! Don’t get me wrong Tarrus Riley is certainly at the top of his genre, consistently putting out phenomenal songs and amazing performances, however the competition was extremely stiff, but congratulation Omar ‘Tarrus’ Riley.

The son of well-known Jimmy Riley proved his mettle when he got the awards at the 1st Reggae Academy Award which honoured the music industry.

Reggae Times caught up with Tarrus Riley to discuss hi thoughts on winning the Awards, which he appreciates but what means more to him is having his music touch the people.

“I feel great, I am living out my dreams, getting the Awards feel great, this is all good for the music and the country. I get six awards, the video get two and me personally get four, Riley said in an interview with Reggae Times after th show”.
