Our very own Jamaican artist and Atlanta Love and Hip Hop cast member will now add a little more spice to dancehall as it is said that she will receive the title ‘Queen of Dancehall’ at the 28th staging of Reggae Sumfest 2020.
The title ‘Queen of Dancehall’ was given to Lady Saw (now Minister Marion Hall) on the Reggae Sumfest stage in 2012. However, since she got baptized a few years ago and turned to gospel music and her ministry, the seat has been vacant. The international artist has made her mark in the industry since early 2000. She has made it clear that she is deserving of the title due to her hard work.
DownSound Entertainment (DSE) CEO, Joe Bogdanovich, stated: “Jamaican female artistes have taken a leading role in the music industry, both locally and internationally, and Spice has been at the forefront of that. Many younger artistes have her to thank for laying the foundation that has led to their success. Spice has performed at Reggae Sumfest more than 10 times, so it is only fitting that she receives the title on our stage. She is an amazing artiste, and we look forward to honouring her.”
Reggae Sumfest will be held on June 16-20, 2020 in Montego Bay. Spice has been performing at Reggae Sumfest for more than 10 years and with Lady Saw out of the mix, she does have a strong claim to the crown.
