The names Sly and Robbie have been related to music for the past four decades. Having successfully established solo careers Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare decided to form a duo in the mid 1970’s.
Sly a drummer and Robbie a bass player, the prolific duo have done several productions together; even forming the Taxi Gang Label which was a group of musicians like themselves who play backup on several of the duos productions.
The duo is at it again releasing their”Red Hills Rd” album in late 2020. The album features a number of acts from the Taxi Gang group who have been together for some time now. Some features include keyboardist Ansel Collins, saxophonist Dean Fraser, Steven “Lenky” Mardsen and the late trombonist Nambo Robinson. Also singers Cherine Anderson and Peter
G are featured on the “Red Hills Rd”,album.
“Red Hills Rd” follows “Dubrising” the duo’s album which was released some six years ago in 2014.
Sly and Robbie had won Best Reggae Album at the Grammys in 1999. With their expertise the duo includes the instrumental “Santa Barbara”, which is credited for propelling the single“Murder She Wrote”, to the British National Chart in 1993. The single was done by artisteS Chaka Demus and Pliers.
The “Red Hills Rd”, album is distributed through Tabou 1 a Fremch company and the duo’s Taxi Label.
