Merritone Sound was started back in the 50’s by the Blake Brothers Dad Val in St. Thomas Jamaica. When he passed away, the brothers, while students at Kingston College carried on the legacy. Who can forget the hugely popular Turntable Club on Red Hills Road St. Andrew? It was the place to be and be seen back in the 70’s! The youngest of the brothers ‘Monte’ is carrying on the Merritone legacy on the sounds 70th. birthday which starts off with a five night Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Haiti then on to St Ann and Falmouth , there’s also a Fathers day celebration in June, family fun day in August and the late (Mr. Merritone) Winston’s birthday in November events planned throughout Jamaica and the US. Back in the day The brothers played in East Kingston where they played commonly in the early years. This was back in the day when a couple held each other and danced together!!
