Presented by the Jamaica Arts Holdings, International Reggae Day 2018 (IRD), will consist of a special celebration of the 50th year Reggae has been observed as the genre of popular Jamaican music.
The world will be celebrating together as there are numerous events scheduled to take place around the globe that will include a live performance event in France, a Rastafarian Ital food and craft market exposition in Singapore at the Canvas Club, a yacht party in Taiwan, as well as a song release in Belize.
There will be an event held on the Boardwalk in Hellshire, Portmore, which will be a beach party from 9 a.m to 9 p.m, coupled with specials and discounts all around Jamaica, including Bridgette’s Sandals..
The Jamaican- United Kingdom connection will also be celebrated, or as we better know it today as the “Windrush Generation” and the role they played in transplanting the culture of music and melody. The symbolism will be etched in reality by the ceremonial planting of actual trees in Harlesden, while there will be a day of conferences, films, music and awards dedicated to Reggae, copyright and delving into issue that affect persons in the Reggae industry.
