STRIP TEASE CONFIRMS SAW'S SUPRMECY OVER HARDCORE REGGAE Saw is rated as the queen of hardcore reggae and deservedly so.No other female artiste in Jamaica has had the courage to match the hardcore men, word for word, apart from Tanya Stephens, with much effect. Saw deserves respect for that. Ever since she emerged in the early nineties with her profound challenge to the men she has remained like a rose among thorns. As time goes by, young people look for newer icons and Saw, obviously aware of the challenge, has outdone herself on this one in an attempt to confirm her ascendancy. That is what her new CD, STRIP TEASE, is all about. A great effort to seduce a new generation of hardcore fans and re-establish her dancehall rule by crushing the competition under the weight of her excessive sexual appeal. Saw tried so hard to distance herself from the pack the album ends up being really excessively rawCocky Liquor, Pretty P...y, Best Pum Pum are some of the titles which define this album, which is obviously aimed at breaching the boundaries to international appeal. An ambition no doubt fed bythe success of her collaborations with Vitamin C and No Doubt. The quality of the producers engaged in the project indicate VP's strong confidence in her eligibility for international success after so many years. Dave Kelly, King Jammy's sons Lloyd "John John' and Trevor "Baby G" James, Sly Dunbar, Richard "Richie D" Martin, Troyton Rami, who was responsible for Sean Paul's GIMME DI LIGHT, Donovan "Vendetta" Bennett who produced Sizzla's RISE TO THE OCCASION CD and Renaissance's Delano Thomas are major dancehall producers who worked on the album. But instead of developing into an impassioned display of her talents, it settles for bragging rights: "To my many fans thanks for waiting on the best female ever, me."Saw is so absolutely sure of herself rising to this challenge and demonstrating once and for all that no other woman is capable of competing with her in the hardcore market. This album marks the re-emergence of the original Lady Saw and her ability to batter the competition into submission with cutting edge hardcore lyrics.
