             REGGAE BOYZ IN DRAW WITH U.S.

On Tuesday April 11, 2006 a hard fighting Jamaica Football Team, (The Reggae Boyz), played the mighty United States team to a 1-1 draw.  The match which was held in Cary, North Carolina was played to a sold out crowd.  The Reggae Boyz showing on this occasion is most commendable considering the fact that the team was not at its full strength with several of the team’s frontline players missing in action.  Jamaica had the distinction of drawing first blood by scoring in the first five minutes of the game.  However, the U.S. later equalized against the run of play.

     On Friday April 14, 2006 members of the Jamaica’s football fraternity came together to honour the memory of one of the most distinguished footballer to have represented Jamaica, Peter Cargill.  They all came together for this commemoration game as it is the first anniversary of the demise of Cargill who died as result of a motor vehicle accident on  April 16, 2005.  The game was held at the Harbour view Stadium.

     Cargill is a former Reggae Boy who proudly represented the nation in its historic appearance at the 1998 World Cup in France. During his lifetime Cargill has also represented the Camperdown High School, Harbour View Football Club, and coached the Waterhouse Football Club.  Proceeds from the commemoration match will go towards the establishment of the “Peter Cargill Trust fund.”
