Mr. Errol D. Bean

‘Beyond the rhythm’ is the most recent work of former pastor Errol D. Bean. The album, Bean’s first, consist of seventeen tracks – 13 songs, 2 poems, and 2 instrumentals – of Conscious Reggae, Inspirational and Gospel Music, Culture, Ska and much more. It captures the dreams, desires and artistic expressions of Errol, best known for his unflappable and enthusiastic personality.

According to Bob Clarke, Broadcaster and Musicologist, ‘Beyond the Rhythm’ is a potpourri of Jamaican Music’. All lyrics on the compilation was written by Errol except ‘If You Could Be’, co-written by Mallory Williams, and ‘Nearer’, partially adapted. The album features Abijah, the legendary Ken Boothe, Jon Williams, Ernie Ranglin, with special presentations by Rosamond Brown and Norma Brown – Bell - household names in broadcasting.

Errol D. Bean is the author of two literary publications: Cynthia Schloss: An Inspiration Of Love And Friendship – a tribute to the late song bird, Cynthia Schloss, and Flower Blooms – an anthology of poems. Apart from being a creative writer Bean is also a well-rounded intellectual. A former pastor (Jamaica Baptist Union), Teacher (Calabar High School), lecturer (Shortwood Teachers’ College), Life Underwriter (Former Jamaica Mutual Life Insurance Company), he is Sales and Marketing Executive at C&WJ Employees Co- operative Credit Union Ltd.

Between August 1987 and December 1988, Bean produced and hosted a weekly 15 minutes non-traditional religious (sponsored) radio programme called ‘Words and Music’ aired on the former JBC Radio 1. His previously recorded releases include ‘Freedom’ (45 RPM 1987), ‘Love Yuh Woman’ (45 RPM 1988) – distributed by Dynamic Sounds and ‘The Tell Me Why Project’ (2003).

‘Beyond The Rhythm’ adds to his accomplishments - launched at the Liguanea Club, New Kingston, on Saturday November 20, 2004 drew a full house of patrons, who were treated to music and informative talk by the man himself. Ken Boothe and Abijah performed in the main showcase for the evening.

The album done on the Bean3Music label was mixed and mastered by award winning engineer/producer Rohan Dwyer. Beyond The Rhythm is distributed internationally by VP Records and locally by Stage Records. Since the launch of the CD Errol has already donated a contribution from sales proceeds to the ‘Dare To Care’ home for children living with HIV/AIDS.
