Desmond Dekker is dead

Desmond Dekker
Desmond Dekker is dead.   The 64 year old Dekker  died in the UK this morning (Thursday, May 25, 2006).

Born on July 16, 1942 in Kingston, Jamaica, The emergence of rocksteady in the latter half of 1966 propelled his James Bond-inspired "007 (Shanty Town)" into the UK charts.  In 1969 Dekker achieved his greatest international success with "Israelites"
