RUN DE TAPE, RUN DE TAPE

Run de tape!!!  Run de tape!!! That is the call that has been reverberating in and around Jamaica since Ambassador Peter King was found murdered at his home in upper St. Andrew several weeks ago.  The call came after the police, on searching the deceased premises, discovered a huge cache of video tapes on which it is said that images of various influential people, including several popular dancehall artistes, were caught on these tapes in various display of flagrant homosexual activities.

The revelation of the discovery of the “Sex tapes” has started what amounts to an impending “Tsunami”, if and when the tapes are released for general viewing.  In the mean time, tongues have been wagging and speculations are rife as to who and who are featured thereon in their orgiastic, homosexual glory.

The entertainment community is one of the hardest hit since the ‘sex tapes’ scandal broke.  Quite a few of the prominent popular exponents of the dancehall culture, who took delight in advocating, “Fire bun fi homos”, are said to be prominently featured on these ‘sex tapes.’   This development has caused several of those who have been so “fingered” to express their innocence and anger.

There are also those entertainers who seem to be enjoying the fact that some of their colleagues have been “fingered.”  This has led to a plethora of songs being released demanding the public release of the “sex tapes.”   Leading the charge in this area is the artiste, DYCR, who quickly released one on the Downsound Record label titled, “Run De Tape.”   Junior Reid and Vybz Kartel later joined the fray and have also released singles addressing the issue.  Right now the entertainment scene is afire on this “sex tapes” issue with no one really knowing where the sparks are going to fall.
