I-Wayne

I-Wayne

2004 has been a tremendous year for I-Wayne. His singles 'Can't Satisfy Her' and 'Living In Love'have both topped local and international charts. Born Clifford Taylor in Portmore, Jamaica, the 24-year-old singer steadily developed his vocal talent since the age of 7. Stemming from a musical family, he was ushered into the industry as a young performer at variety shows.

Being a student at Greater Portmore High School, I Wayne became serious about his craft and joined the group called ‘Vibes Machine’, consisting of singers and DJ’S. The group was successful, receiving great reviews from patrons and the media locally.

For many, I Wayne is a new ‘kid on the block’, but actually, I-Wayne was a popular addition to after work jams at both Cactus and Asylum nightclubs. 'A mishap or divine intervention,' I-Wayne after appearing at these shows as a member of the Vibes Machine, fell into being a soloist by chance when the rest of his choristers arrived late one night.

Forced to perform alone, his solo presentation was well received, which motivated him to perfect his solo career. He began working with sound systems Diamond Cruise and The Legend and later co-produced and performed at an annual Garveymeade community show, held on December 24. Having grown up in the community of Garveymeade, I-Wayne watched as the annual event achieved its tenth year featuring performances by Frisco Kid and Baby Wayne as part of the line up, only to later share the stage with artistes such as Sizzla, Anthony B and Cobra at these concerts. I-Wayne's other major appearances have been at Teen Splash 2001, Fire 2002 and Spring Break 2004.

With a natural love for music and genuine chanting, he possesses a unique ability to compose, and commit to memory all material without ever writing down a word. These include the Stephen Gibbs produced single, “Living In Love” and “Burning Red” produced by Ricardo “Cracjkeda” Morgan, both released in 2003.

In 2004 I Wayne’s hard work paid off with the successful solo release “Can’t Satisfy Her” on the Loyal Soldiers label. The song herald across Jamaica and the world earning for itself, the number 1 position on most reggae charts both Nationally and Internationally. He has followed up on the success of ‘Can’t Satisfy Her’ by re-releasing his single ‘Living In Love’, which is also creating a buzz, and enjoying heavy rotation both locally and overseas.
