“Jamaica has its own energy and power, that is why you see so many international stars come here all the time to experience that energy for themselves,” Skillis said. “Jamaica definitely has the vibes, it has its own energy, that’s why everyone wants to come here, rappers, actors, and the people are just full of energy and so real.”

The resort town of Montego Bay also benefited in a big way from Reggae Sumfest, which is a week long festival, last year’s festival saw an estimated total of US $5 million.

“Jamaican music, since the 1960s, with the emergence of icons such as Bob Marley, Toots Hibbert, and Jimmy Cliff, has not only captured the imagination of numerous people across the globe but has been integral to the mushrooming of Brand Jamaica. Reggae Sumfest is, perhaps, the most influential vehicle to leverage and sustain Brand Jamaica and further promote the island and its music,” The principal of Reggae Sumfest, Josef Bogdanovich disclosed in a previous interview.

Skillis who recently released his new single title “Street Smart” produced by Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris for Major Moves Music, is overwhelmed with the current feedback he is been receiving ever since the song was released.

“The label is gearing up for a big summer push with this song,” he noted.
