No Doubt’s ‘Push & Shove’ Features Diplo’s Blend Of Ska & Dub (Huffington Post)
No Doubt, Gwen Stefani and her reunited band of ska rockers is back with another single. “Push and Shove,” which Ryan Seacrest debuted Wednesday, sees Diplo blending ska, dub and reggae into a track which verges dangerously close to dubstep.

VP Records to launch Seaga’s ‘Origins of Jamaican Music’ (The Jamaica Observer)
FORMER Prime Minister Edward Seaga’s four-CD box set, Origins of Jamaican Music, will be launched by Jamaican-owned, New York-based VP Records on Friday, October 19 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston.
In addition to 100 carefully selected songs, the set also features extensive liner notes and track-by-track notations in a 64-page booklet; iconic photos from Jamaica’s 50 years as a sovereign nation; a preface from VP’s president, Chris Chin; and foreword by musicologists Dermot Hussey and John Masouri.

Bumper Crowd Turns Out For Walking On Air (The Jamaica Gleaner)
Numerous persons turned up at Redbones Blues Café, New Kingston, last Friday, to support birthday girl Alaine’s charity concert, Walking On Air.
The venue was so packed that persons without presold tickets were being turned back at the gate. Inside, there were no empty chairs and persons even sat on the ground.

Leonard Dillon, Jamaican singer and front man of the influential reggae outfit The Ethiopians, passed in September 2011. His untimely death left the music world in general and the world of reggae with a huge gap to fill.

Canadian singer, Jemini, makes music with producer Barry O’Hare (YardFlex.com)
Up-and-coming singer Jemini, describes herself as “one big bubble of enthsiam” as she makes preparations to visit Jamaica later this month to do some studio work with highly acclaimed producer, Barry O’Hare.
Although it will be a short visit, Jemini, who is also putting together her debut album, intends to make the most of this opportunity.
